Pulmonary disorders associated with passive smoking: new online ERS resources

Symposium
Chairs: M. Fletcher (Warwick, United Kingdom), C. Jimenez Ruiz (Madrid, Spain)
Aims: After attending this session, the audience will be up to date with the scientific evidence for the effect of passive smoking on the respiratory health of children, and the relationship between passive smoking and lung cancer in nonsmokers. Furthermore, the participants will learn more about Smokehaz, a new ERS website. This website contains very useful updated information that is based on systematic reviews and new meta-analyses of studies on the effect of active and passive smoking on respiratory health. Smokehaz can be broadly used as an educational and research tool by ERS members, respiratory doctors and other respiratory allied health professionals (nurses etc.), young research fellows, and epidemiologists. It also provides information that can be used when making recommendations to policy makers and for improving public awareness and patient care.
