Aims: The aims of this symposium are to:
- Present a state-of-the-art update on the physiology and pathophysiology of SDB in women and men;
- Present the current knowledge on how men and women differ in sleep apnoea and central apnoea;
- Increase the knowledge and understanding of the management of sleep apnoea in women throughout the lifecycle; and,
- Highlight deficiencies in our knowledge of the gender differences in SDB, with the aim of stimulating enquiry and research in this area.
