International Congress Munich 2014

The merits of exercise in patients with non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC)

Symposium
Chairs: F. Gamarra (Munich, Germany), M.A. Spruit (Horn, The Netherlands)
Aims: At the end of this symposium, the audience will:
- Understand the different cardiorespiratory testing modalities that may be useful for patients with NSCLC;
- Be aware of the importance of exercise (in-)tolerance in patients with NSCLC;
- Understand the safety, feasibility and possible training effects in patients with NSCLC, both in terms of physiological and patient-reported outcomes; and
- Gain insights into exercise training as an intervention in different patient groups (e.g. metastatic versus nonmetastatic) and at different time points during the course of the disease (i.e. before, during or after treatment).
