PG19 Surgery for advanced stage lung cancer
Postgraduate CourseChairs: P. De Leyn (Leuven, Belgium), K. Nackaerts (Leuven, Belgium)
Aims: The aim of this course is to facilitate the decision-making process in the treatment of this difficult group of patients. The treatment of these patients requires permanent collaboration between radiologists, surgeons and oncologists that starts from the moment of first contact with the patients and continues up to and beyond surgery. In this subset of patients, the disease spread is assessed at the same time as functional assessment so that potential postoperative functional impairment can be anticipated well in advance. This is essential for offering patients neoadjuvant treatment or upfront surgery.
