Aims: At the end of this symposium, the participants should have a clear idea of the current literature in four important areas of paediatric lung disease. There should be an opportunity for a stimulating discussion on the strengths and weaknesses of these papers, and how they should inform research in these areas in the coming years. Target audience: Paediatricians and all health professionals concerned with the care of children, basic scientist with research interests in airway inflammation, cell biology and clinical physiology.
