Chemical and biological indoor and outdoor pollution

Hot topics
Chairs: L. Fregonese (London, United Kingdom), B. Hoffmann (Dusseldorf, Germany)
Aims: This session informs the audience on the latest development in indoor and outdoor air pollution and respiratory health effects. Major topics are the energy transition that is being expected to have a major impact on (the composition) on general air pollution in the developed and developing world. Another issue is that air pollution related to livestock production is receiving more attention. Potential protective effects have received considerable attention, deleterious effects of air pollution from livestock production has recently been associated with respiratory effects (COPD exacerbation, pneumonia risk and shifts in the respiratory microbiome) but are still poorly characterized and not completely understood.
