Early origins of lung disease: an interdisciplinary approach

Symposium
Chairs: J. Collins (Rotterdam, Netherlands), N. Ubags (Epalinges, Switzerland)
Aims: to focus on the mechanisms underlying healthy and aberrant perinatal lung development as well as the impact of (pulmonary) immune maturation and microbial composition on lung health in childhood and adulthood; to bring together renowned experts in the field to identify knowledge gaps in research of pre- and postnatal lung development from a multidisciplinary perspective: to focus on cellular, immunological and microbial crosstalk in the lung, and to determine whether there is a window-of-opportunity in early life when potential preventive strategies for respiratory diseases can be beneficial.
