Extracellular vesicles in lung disease pathogenesis

Aims: The aims of this session are to introduce the audience to the important concept of extracellular vesicles (EVs) and their potential role in lung health and disease; outline the various types of EVs that are produced by epithelial and inflammatory cells; provide specific examples of the various molecules that are transported by EVs and how they are transferred to target cells; and present potential therapeutic roles of EVs for the treatment of lung disease.
