Living and dying with lung disease

Symposium
Chairs: Georgia Narsavage (Morgantown, United States of America), Hilary Pinnock (Edinburgh, United Kingdom)
Aims: Meeting the physical, psychological, social, and spiritual needs of people living with very severe life-limiting respiratory disease is a challenge. Effective communication is essential, regardless of whether we are supporting a severely disabled patient with COPD struggling to maintain their independence at home, discussing the possible wishes of a patient for ventilation, or seeking to relieve intractable breathlessness. The speakers will address all these challenges after we have heard the narratives of people living and dying with lung disease.
Target audience: All professionals who care for people with severe life-limiting lung disease
The Dance of Death: comparing the perceptions of end-of-life in different conditions and the implications for healthcare services
