Implementation of collaborative lung function testing

Symposium
Chairs: Irene Steenbruggen (Zwolle, Netherlands), Karin Lisspers (Gagnef, Sweden)
Aims: The aim of this session is to describe a novel collaborative approach to lung function testing in which respiratory specialists provide remote support to community healthcare providers. This approach will improve the efficiency and cost-effectiveness of healthcare, especially in situations where there are epidemics of chronic diseases. The usefulness of this approach with forced spirometry will be described because it is the first diagnostic procedure to be deployed in the field with this approach. However, this approach is also likely to be useful in different geographical areas and with other specialised diagnostic techniques.
