Exercise testing in pulmonary arterial hypertension

Symposium
Chairs: O. Sitbon (Clamart, France), R. Naeije (Brussels, Belgium)
Aims: At the end of the symposium, the participant will be able to:
• develop a comprehensive physiological assessment scheme of the exercise limitation of patients with primary arterial hypertension (PAH);
• understand the differences between the three modes of exercise testing used in PAH: the cardiopulmonary exercise testing, the six-minute walking test and the shuttle test;
• identify the role of exercise testing in the grading of the severity of the disease;
• evaluate the therapeutic implications of exercise testing in PAH;
• assess the importance of exercise testing in the identification of patients at early stage of PAH.
