PG13 - Respiratory failure: skills needed to treat an episode of acute respiratory failure

Postgraduate Course

Aims: This is the third course in a three-year postgraduate core curriculum providing a basic overview on the diagnosis and management of patients with respiratory failure. Participants can attend a single module and earlier modules can be accessed on the ERS e-learning site. The main aims of this third module in the series are to describe the skills needed to treat an episode of acute respiratory failure.
At the end of the course, participants will:
-understand the diagnostic and therapeutical procedures necessary to manage a respiratory emergency;
-understand the rationale of preventing infections;
-know how to approach difficulty in weaning.
