Primary care session
Chairs: T. Troosters (Leuven, Belgium), H. Pinnock (Edinburgh (Edinburgh), United Kingdom)
Aims: to increase the knowledge and motivation of healthcare professionals in relation to issues and interventions besides pharmacological treatment from a primary care perspective.; to discuss best approaches of assessment and treatment of mental disorders that are common in patients with COPD; to raise awareness on a need of rehabilitation programmes that currently are are very scarce and inaccessible for many COPD patients, especially in low resource settings where telerehabilitation approaches may be unreliable, and remote options need to be realistic; to discuss the effect of COPD on sexual satisfaction that is often underappreciated in clinical practice, and improved information and communication regarding sexual health is needed; to start a discussion on early integrated palliative care for COPD patients that should be developed in primary care.
