Aims: The aims of this session are to: review the abnormalities and pathophysiological roles of the airway smooth muscle in asthma; discuss how targeting the airway smooth muscle and its direct environment can mitigate the remodelling process in asthma; and review the role of mesenchymal progenitor cells in the remodelling process.
