Aims: At the end of this session, the participants will be able to:
- describe recently discovered genetic factors in the pathogenesis of airflow limitation in asthma and COPD
- consider the role of potentially new immunological mechanisms in severe asthma and COPD
- understand the clinical and pathophysiological mechanisms that contribute to fixed airflow limitation in non-smokers
