Aims: To describe the role of epithelial cells and dendritic cells in the innate immune response, demonstrate the importance of oxidative stress in the resolution of inflammation, describe how the viral response to viral infection is altered in disease and highlight the effect of bacterial infection on innate immunity and infection.
