CC6 Multidisciplinary team discussion in thoracic oncology

Challenging clinical cases
Chairs: Gilbert Massard (Strasbourg, France), Rainer G. Wiewrodt (Münster, Germany)
Aims: To provide physicians (both in training and experienced) with a real-life discussion on thoracic oncology cases by exploring current multidisciplinary discussions in thoracic oncology. How to choose the best strategy(ies) for diagnosing or treating peculiar cases will be presented along with the scientific data in the literature that support each choice. The benchmark decisions that have been taken previously and the scientific foundations for these decisions will also be presented. Finally, a multidisciplinary team discussion as it occurs in daily practice will be simulated: junior members will present case studies that will then be discussed by the participants. In particular, the diagnostic and therapeutic strategies for the cases will be discussed. The outcomes of the discussion will then be compared with what was done in practice.
Target audience: All respiratory physicians who manage lung cancer patients.
