When chronic inflammation drives fibrosis: a lesson from lung transplantation

Symposium
Chairs: Federica Meloni (Pavia, Italy), Bart Vanaudenaerde (Leuven, Belgium)
Aims: The audience will learn about the inflammatory mechanisms that drive chronic lung allograft dysfunction (CLAD), the role that mesenchymal cells play in the pathogenesis of CLAD, how CLAD is diagnosed, and how CLAD patients are classified into different clinical phenotypes. The current CLAD prevention and treatment strategies in lung recipients will also be described.
Target audience: Clinicians, surgeons, and basic scientists interested in the mechanisms of inflammation and repair and in the diagnosis and management of lung transplant recipients.
