Aims: To describe the key challenges and features of lung fibrosis; to discuss how epigenetic changes such as miRNAs can affect fibroblast development and function; to compare the progress made in understanding lung fibrosis to the advances made in elucidating the role of fibrosis in liver disease; and to demonstrate how these advances in science will lead to the development of novel therapeutic approaches.
Target audience: Pulmonologists, emergency medicine doctors, respiratory physicians, clinical researchers, general practitioners, research fellows, basic scientists, intensivists, nurses, pathologists, and trainees.
