reflected in the various diseases, syndromes, microbial pathogens
and host responses. As such, these infections are responsible for
much morbidity and the use of healthcare resources which in turn
have significant economic implications. This workshop provides an
overview of the epidemiology of emerging pathogens in the
community and focuses subsequently on their appropriate treatment
and management.
