Optimised follow-up for paediatric and adult cystic fibrosis patients

Objectives of the module: After the completion of this module, the participant will be able to:

1- Identify the main objectives of an optimized follow-up : preventing lung function decline, maintaining an optimal nutritional status, screening for complications

2- Have knowledge of main figures from recent CF epidemiological studies

3- Understand how to manage stable patients in order to prevent lung function decline. The discussion will focus on some examples of major interest 1) Inhalation treatments and their application in CF patients  2) the diagnosis and treatment of allergic broncho-pulmonary aspergillosis.

4- Understand the management of exacerbations in patients chronically infected with Pseudomonas aeruginosa. Early aggressive eradication therapy as a preventive measure as well as recent advances in the treatment of chronic pseudomonas aeruginosa infections, particularly the managment of i.v. antibiotic treatment will be addressed.

5 - Understand the role of self management and education or physical training
