Educational Aims
After completion of this course, participants will be able to:
- Screen patients at risk for COPD.
- Discuss the diagnosis and comprehensive treatment of COPD, including current diagnostic criteria, outpatient pharmacological management and oxygen therapy, counseling and coordination of care and management of acute exacerbations requiring hospitalization.

| Online live lectures closely simulate a class meeting. With this approach the speaker can interact with the audience similar to classroom teaching. All participants can hear the speech of the presenter and simultaneously see the slides. The main target audience is trainees in respiratory medicine, internists, internal medicine residents, pulmonary medicine specialists and advanced practice nurses who participate in the screening, diagnosis and treatment of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and related disorders.

The ERS School web-based Course on COPD 2009 is accredited by the European Board for Accreditation in Pneumology (EBAP). The ERS designates this continuing medical education activity for a maximum of 7 European hours of credit. Each live lecture has been accredited for 1 hour of CME credits. Credits are only granted for the participation during the live event, not for viewing the recorded presentation.
