ERS Research Seminar: Sensational developments in the airways: The role of afferent hyper and hypo function in respiratory disease, Dublin 2013

About
Research Seminars gather a small number (20 to 100) of well-established and preferably young investigators to address scientific topics in depth and help break new ground. Research Seminars take place over two days in easy-to-reach European cities. They are scientific Seminars involving recently published work and research in progress. Participation is fully supported by the budget granted by the ERS.

Background
Sensation from the airways is responsible for the majority of symptoms experienced by patients.

In particular, overactivity and hypofunction of the afferent nervous system within the lung needs a urgent reappraisal which can only be brought about by the interaction of basic scientists, transitional medicine and clinicians. The symposium's aim is to enhance the European wide profile of airway sensory dysfunction.
