Paediatric year in review

Hot topics
Chairs: J. Price (London, United Kingdom), K-H. Carlsen (Oslo, Norway)
The symnposium gives an update and information on the most recent developments in the field of paediatric pulmonology.
• Genetics: we are close to, but at the same time, far away from the prediction of atopy and asthma in infants and children.
• Cystic fibrosis: it becomes more and more clear that cross-infections are important in the approach and treatment of children and adults with cystic fibrosis. More and more hospitals are implementing a segregation policy.
• Exhaled air: this presentation will give an update on the place and the pitfalls of markers in exhaled air in the diagnosis and treatment of respiratory diseases in children.
• Infant lung function: the introduction of the computer has a huge impact in the development of lung function techniques in young children. This presentation will give an update on the latest developments and the place both in clinical and research settings of these techniques.
