ERS School Course on Monitoring of airway diseases, Lausanne 2004

Target audience
  • Practising pulmonologists
  • Fellows involved in research on airway inflammation
  • Laboratory technicians performing lung function test
Target audience  Show

Educational aims
  • To ecognise common and unusual findings in different methods used for monitoring of airway diseases both in adults and children
  • To correlate clinical presentation with results of traditional and newly developed methods of monitoring (ie. lung function tests, exhaled breath measurements, induced sputum results)
  • To understand more efficiently the relation between the results of lung function tests, markers of airway inflammation/oxidative stress and severity of asthma and COPD
  • To gain knowledge on the diagnostic value and utility in diseases monitoring of the different monitoring techniques
  • To learn the newest developments in the field of non-invasive ways of assessing airway inflammation and its potential effect on therapy
